Getting Schooled

I just spent a wonderful week at the Rhinelander School of the Arts. I took classes in plotting and voice with author Christine DeSmet and a dialogue class with playwright Gail Sterkel. Both were incredible instructors and I learned a lot, but the most important thing I learned was that my completed novel, Son of Thunder, is far from complete.

The people in the classes with me were tremendous as we lovingly tore apart each others writing to make it stronger, bolder and just over-all better. (rule of 3’s) I have to say that I’ve never felt so pumped up about my writing.

Next week I’m off to Gencon where I’ll be attending some writers symposiums, doing some gaming, and participating in a Zombie Walk. But as soon as I get back I plan on digging back into Son of Thunder, tearing it apart and building it back up using the tools I learned this past week.

A big THANK YOU goes out to my instructors and classmates for a great week.

My Passion for Painting project will continue, but you probably won’t be getting the next chapter for a few weeks yet. There’s so much to do, but I’m revitalized and very excited about my writing.

Until next time,

Steve
